We have over twenty years of experience advocating for the rights, supports and services for those with developmental disabilities. As parents, we have had the honor of raising our son who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. We have experienced, first hand, the blessings and challenges of parenting a developmentally disabled child.
We fell into our advocacy roles as we fought to secure the appropriate educational services and treatment modalities that our son needed to succeed during his years in the public school system.
The transition to adulthood brought new and bigger challenges with conservatorship and obtaining appropriate regional center services.
Throughout this journey, we have formed relationships with school districts, service providers, advocates, legal counsel and, of course, the regional center.
Our joy is in seeing that our efforts have enabled our son to live a life that is uniquely his own with the services and supports that enable him to live independently and for us to be parents rather than caregivers.
Our hope is that we can help other parents and caregivers along the journey with their child(ren) and that though our experiences, we can make your journey an easier one.
